Letters to Arthur W. McGill, Cashier of the U.S. Bank in Middletown, Connecticut and to Joshua Burnham, Cashier of the U.S. Branch Bank in Hartford, Connecticut. Each town postmaster remitted the amount due to the General Post Office through the Branch Bank. These letters provide valuable information on post offices and postmasters in the state, and also include examples of free franks.
